Algol Chemicals scores higher than average in SQAS evaluation
SQAS stands for the Safety & Quality Assessment System, which is used to evaluate the quality, safety, security and environmental performance of European logistics service providers and chemical distributors. In practice, the questions in the assessment are used to evaluate how well a company adheres to the principles of the Responsible Care programme in its operations.
For 2016 Algol Chemicals received 90 out of 100 points in its SQAS assessment, which compares favourably to an industry average of around 80 points. The SQAS assessment has been carried out already among 253 chemicals distributors throughout Europe.
The operations of Algol Chemicals ranked higher than the industry average in the following areas:
“The only area in which we scored slightly below average was in our ability to react in crisis situations, where we scored 79 compared to an industry average of 83. In the year ahead we plan to develop our performance in this area, for example by taking part in rescue exercises as part of the HAZARD Project,” says Maaret Karlsson, Quality and Environment Manager at Algol Chemicals.
