Learn about our sustainability targets for 2025
Our sustainability targets provide a clear roadmap for actions and initiatives that contribute to a better future. Aligned with international frameworks like the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our targets cover diverse areas, from environmental protection to social equity and economic growth. We are committed to creating a healthy and well-functioning work community, minimising environmental impact of our operations, ensuring the use of sustainable energy and resources as well as minimising GHG emissions. Furthermore, we are dedicated to continuously improving the quality of our operations and ensuring a transparent supply chain.
Improving safety and operational quality is our common goal
Targets:
- 0 accidents
- 67 safety walks
- 120 safety observations
- 5 % less critical claims than in previous years
- 0 customer related critical claims
- Fast processing of sales claims, target: less than 18 days
To ensure and improve safety, we conduct regular safety inspections and drills at all our locations. All employees have access to electronic systems for reporting safety observations (Granite) and misconduct (Whistleblowing). Most safety observations are made during safety walks, and we regularly monitor the number and content of these observations.
We provide employees with all the necessary safety training required for their work during their orientation, in accordance with the annual training plan, and always in connection with any changes to our operations. Our employees have access to a wide range of safety-related online trainings.
Any claims in our operations are dealt with appropriately and as quickly as possible. The aim is to reduce the number of critical claims, such as broken packaging, through effective cooperation in the supply chain. The root causes of claims are carefully investigated, and the effectiveness of corrective measures is monitored.

Our goal is wellbeing at work and committed employees
Targets:
- eNPS 30
- 400 hours of skills development training
- 3 hours of training per employee
- 0 WhistleB cases concerning discrimination connected to Algol Chemicals
- 100 % employees trained in Human rights
Our goal is wellbeing at work and committed employees. The target eNPS (employee Net Promoter Score) is an indicator that we can use to assess the level of employee wellbeing and job satisfaction. In order to monitor the trend, the result is compared with our company's previous results.
In practice, wellbeing at work is monitored by means of good leadership work, regular development discussions and occupational wellbeing surveys that evaluate work ability. The teams also have their own discussion routines, which help supervisors get feedback and which enable regular monitoring of occupational wellbeing factors. Actions to be implemented annually are selected from the wellbeing improvement measures brought up in the discussions.
Employees are offered the necessary on the job training as part of their orientation, in accordance with the annual training plan and always due to changes in our operations. We use a wide range of online coaching covering, for example, the Group's Code of Business Conduct, occupational safety, information security and chemical safety. During 2025 we will launch a new Human rights training for all employees. Recordings of training sessions are available on the company's Intranet pages and cover such topics as new processes and systems.
Our goal is for all employees to complete Algol Group's Code of Business Conduct education and Human rights training. Additionally, personal development and target discussions must be conducted with all employees.

We promote transparent and sustainable supply chain
Targets:
- 20 existing supplier evaluations annually
- 100 % of new suppliers evaluated and approved
- 100 % of buyers trained in sustainable procurement
- 2 medium and all significant risk supplier’s on-site audits performed
- 90 % of signed supplier Code of Business Conduct
- 0 WhistleB cases concerning corruption connected to Algol Chemicals
- 0 confirmed information security breaches
Our values are accountability, development and collaboration. As part of the chemical supply chain, we carry our responsibility for the proper functioning, development and cooperation within our supply chain.
Our suppliers and subcontractors are required to sign our Supplier Code of Business Conduct. We have guidelines and principles for selecting and evaluating partners. We also evaluate our suppliers in terms of sustainability and select suppliers for our products that meet the sustainability requirements of our customers. During 2025 we will launch a new sustainable procurement training for buyers.
Product safety and compliance are important to us. We systematically collect information and product documentation in order to comply with REACH requirements and packaging and food legislation, for example. We ensure that our products meet the quality and purity requirements set for them and that the packaging is properly marked. We pass on product information within the supply chain and openly inform about changes in products or related regulations. We also regularly publish health and safety-related articles related to our own operations or products.

Our goal is to minimise the environmental impact of our operations with the more sustainable use of resources and a future with less emissions
Targets:
- Reduce the total amount of chemical waste per handled volume compared to the previous year
- Maximise the use of recycled IBCs
- Purchase 100 % of renewable energy for heating and electricity
- 0 Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions
We have identified the environmental impact of our operations. Our goal is the sustainable use of resources and the reduction of emissions from our own operations with the more sustainable use of resources and a future with less emissions. We also do our part to promote the supply chain's efforts towards low-emission deliveries.
As a distributor and packager of chemicals, the most significant environmental impacts result from the purchase of goods and services, use of resources in our own production facilities and the transportation of our products from our warehouses to those of our customers.
In order to reduce the emissions caused by the transportation of our products, we cooperate and look for solutions together with our suppliers and transport partners. As part of developing our own carbon footprint calculation and for setting more precise emission reduction targets, we have started collecting emission data from product manufacturers and our transport partners. Our target is carbon neutrality by 2045.
We are constantly looking for ways to prevent and reduce the generation of waste. We closely monitor the shelf life and condition of the products. As far as possible, we use recycled, refurbished packaging and circular (refillable) packaging. We deliver used packaging for reuse.
We pay attention to the environmentally sustainable procurement and use of energy, electricity and water. Our target is to purchase only renewable energy for heating and electricity.
