Algol Chemicals marks 10-year milestone at Kvarntorp
Algol Chemicals is a complete supplier of ammonia across Scandinavia, serving a wide range of industries. Our facilities in Sweden are located in Kvarntorp, just south of Örebro. Our chemical storage and packaging area comprises several different sized storage tanks; our modern mixing and packaging equipment allows us to flexibly meet the various mixing and packaging requirements of our customers. In addition, our services include bulk breaking and various packaging options with branded customer labels and also supply equipment for safe ammonia handling.
Our Kvarntorp site is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, marking a decade of significant growth and development since Amixo AB officially became part of Algol Chemicals AB on 10 February 2015. Just a year later, in 2016, the site saw its first major infrastructure upgrade with the construction of increased storage capacity for ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH), boosting it from 110 to 420 tonnes. This same year also witnessed a significant operational shift, as the latex production process was moved from Hasselager, Denmark, to Kvarntorp.
Algol’s continued investments in the site’s capabilities was evident in 2018 with the construction of a new bulk breaking process, enhancing the handling and processing of materials. In 2020, we introduced digital safety training requirements for site access, implementing SSG Entre and SSG Algol Chemicals AB courses, highlighting their commitment to safety and operational standards.
The strategic importance of the Kvarntorp site was further emphasised in 2023 with the relocation of linseed oil storage from Lindome to Kvarntorp. This year also saw the construction of a new production process for TMT.
A major milestone was reached in 2024 when the Algol Group purchased the land lot of the Kvarntorp site, signalling a long-term commitment to the facility and its future within the Group.
