We offer our customers a wide range of services at our Turku location – and always with a focus on safety
Algol Chemicals operates in the West Harbour of the Port of Turku. Our operations in Turku began in the 1980s and have expanded over the years by, for example by increasing our tank storage capacity and offering contract manufacturing services. The main focus of our operations is the storage and packaging of chemicals.
The storage and processing of chemicals is large-scale and regulated. Our operations are regularly monitored by, for example, the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) and environmental authorities.
"Safety is of the utmost importance to us. We constantly improve safety, for example through training, safety observations, safety walks, audits, risk assessments and safety-related improvement projects. We regularly organise safety drills and work closely with the rescue services and the port", says Joona Arvola, Site Manager.
"To ensure that our customers and partners are aware of the risks associated with chemicals, we want to guide them in the safe use of the products we supply. We offer comprehensive information and training on the properties of our products, the correct ways of using them, and the necessary protective measures. In this way, we aim to ensure that all our partners can operate safely and responsibly, minimising potential risks and promoting a safe working environment", Arvola says.
Safe packaging and safe handling of chemicals
We work closely with our customers to help them select the most suitable packaging for their needs, with a focus on sustainability. To minimise waste, we recycle packaging materials and have recently expanded our efforts to increase the reuse of IBC packaging. Throughout the life cycle of chemical packages, we provide regular inspections and maintenance to ensure safety and compliance. Additionally, we offer on-site support to guide customers in the safe and efficient use of IBCs when needed.
Bulk deliveries and storage services
We store chemicals in bulk tanks, allowing for seamless road deliveries directly to our customers' premises. To provide added flexibility, we also offer IBC Container rental service. Prioritising efficient logistics and transportation is key to minimising our environmental impact, and we continuously work to reduce fuel consumption and emissions in our operations.
