Algol Chemicals and Palonot team up in the fire retardant market

Algol Chemicals Oy and Finnish company Palonot Oy have initiated cooperation. The cooperation supports Algol’s aim of helping to build a sustainable future.

Palonot develops and markets new types of environmentally friendly fire retardant products that can be used on wood, natural fibres and composite materials both indoors and out. The company’s products are based on the surface treatment or impregnation of the material to be protected without altering the surface appearance.

“Algol Chemicals is one of the investors in Palonot. We are actively seeking new innovative and sustainable solutions in our field. This cooperation supports our desire to help build and support a more sustainable future,” says Juha Jokinen, Managing Director of Algol Chemicals.

Growing market

Wood construction is rapidly growing for numerous reasons. In addition to environmental factors, the trend is being driven by the positive effect of wood on indoor air quality and the beneficial properties of wood for indoor acoustics, for example. The increasing amount of wood construction is reflected in the growing demand for fire retardant products. The market potential is enormous.

“The global market value of fire retardant products today is several billion euros. Algol Chemicals has long experience in fire retardant sales in our own markets. We bring to this cooperation not only our experience and expertise, but also direct contacts with our broad customer base,” Juha Jokinen adds.
